Working out can be somewhat hazardous in winter due to multiple factors like cold temperatures, reduced visibility and icy or slippery condition. Here are some ways exercise can be quite tricky in winter and some preventive measures to stay safe:
1. Frostbite: Cold temperatures can cause frostbite, i.e. freezing the skin and underlying tissues. Protect your exposed skin by covering up with warm socks, using hand warmers or gloves and insulted footwear.
2. Hypothermia: Working out in extreme cold weather can trigger hypothermia, a drastic drop in body temperature. As a preventive measure. dress in layers and wear winter clothing such as gloves, mittens, hats, and similar thermal insulating materials. Keep track of forecasts and avoid working out in severe cold.
