Kidney stones can have various symptoms and warning signs. Some of the early signs and symptoms of kidney stones include:

1. Severe Pain: One of the most common symptoms of kidney stones is severe pain in the back, side, abdomen, groin, or genitals. The pain can come on suddenly and may fluctuate in intensity.

2. Painful Urination: Individuals with kidney stones may experience pain or a burning sensation while urinating. This discomfort can be sharp or persistent.

3. Frequent Urination: Increased urgency and frequency of urination can occur with kidney stones. This may be accompanied by very small amounts of urine being passed.

4. Discolored or Cloudy Urine: Urine that appears pink, red, brown, or cloudy can indicate the presence of blood, which may be due to kidney stones.

5. Nausea and Vomiting: Some people with kidney stones may experience nausea and vomiting, especially if the pain is severe.

6. Fever and Chills: In cases where an infection accompanies kidney stones, individuals may develop a fever and experience chills.

7. Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs): Kidney stones can increase the risk of urinary tract infections, leading to symptoms such as strong-smelling urine, cloudy urine, and a frequent urge to urinate.

8. Hematuria: Blood in the urine (hematuria) may be visible or detected through a urine test. The presence of blood in the urine can be a sign of kidney stones.

If you experience any of these symptoms, especially severe pain, you should seek medical attention promptly, as kidney stones can lead to complications if left untreated. It’s important to consult a healthcare provider for proper diagnosis and treatment.
